it's not hard for me to say that i have problems with determination. i have ideas that sound simple - like starting a music blog- but i forget about it in the next 24 hours. but now, i'm seeing all these other blogs with constant entries. so maybe that's my goal. to actually post one thing once a week. if i get more, then i'll pat myself on the back.
but on a more serious note, i have discovered why i have nothing but love for coldplay. i was listening to their latest live cd LeftRightLeftRightLeft, and it hit me: these guys haven't had a slump. sure there are coldplay haters out in the world who mainly complain about their song lyrics. okay, that i understand. there's a lot of love going on. but Viva la Vida or Death And All His Friends showed a huge jump in progression for the band. they created an actually story. the songs all flow together and tell a linear story. you have to admire any artist that can do that. each song can stand on its own, and when you really look at the lyrics and interpret them, there is some depth.
Example:
I see God come in my garden
but I don't know what he says
for my heart is wasn't open.
"Cemetaries of London"
are you seriously going to try and tell me that's not an amazing lyric? it fits perfectly with chris martin's feelings about religion, but he's turned his confusion about religion into something poetic and beautiful. that's a talent everyone have. or at least wish for.
